What is Tether USDT?
Tether (USDT) is a US-dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Tether Limited. Each USDT is intended to maintain a 1:1 peg with the US dollar, backed by a reserve of cash, cash equivalents and short-term US Treasury bills as disclosed in periodic attestations. With more than $100 billion in circulation, USDT is the most-used stablecoin in the world and a primary medium of exchange for both retail and institutional crypto traders.
USDT chains supported on FixedFloat
- TRC-20 USDT — issued on the Tron blockchain. Almost-zero fees, 1–2 minute settlement. The most popular chain for USDT transfers.
- ERC-20 USDT — the original Ethereum-based version. Higher gas fees, but maximum DeFi compatibility.
- BEP-20 USDT — issued on BNB Smart Chain. Cheap, fast and the default in many BSC DeFi protocols.
- Polygon USDT — for users in the Polygon ecosystem.
- Solana USDT — for high-frequency activity on Solana.
Why use FF for cross-chain USDT?
Most "USDT bridges" are smart-contract bridges or wrapped-asset solutions that introduce a layer of contract risk. FixedFloat takes the simpler, safer approach: the FF hot wallet holds native USDT inventory on every supported chain. When you send TRC-20 USDT and request ERC-20 USDT, the engine receives your TRC-20 deposit and pays out from its native ERC-20 inventory. There is no wrapping, no bridging contract, no claim — just two normal on-chain transactions on opposite networks.
USDT fees and minimums on ff-io.io
The platform fee for stablecoin pairs is 0.5%. The on-chain network fee depends on the chain you receive on: TRC-20 USDT costs almost nothing, while ERC-20 USDT can run from $2 to $20 depending on Ethereum gas prices. The minimum USDT deposit is around 40 USDT to ensure the network fee is a small fraction of the swap.
Common USDT mistakes to avoid
- Sending the wrong network. If you send ERC-20 USDT to a TRC-20 deposit address, your funds will not arrive automatically. FixedFloat support can recover most cases, but it requires manual handling.
- Underpaid on-chain fees on ERC-20. A too-low gas price will leave your deposit pending for hours. Use the suggested gas in your wallet.
- Not double-checking the destination. Once a USDT transfer is confirmed it cannot be reversed. Verify the receiving address before clicking send.
